About This Coffee
Nyeri County is the terroir that makes the Kenya upcountry so famous. In Kenya’s central highlands, fertile volcanic loam is the color of adobe and misty highland air gives way to burning hot sun. Natural water sources abound, and many producers use the closest river or spring for the Kenya-style wet processing, which relies upon an additional post-ferment soak to render exceptionally clear flavors in the resulting coffee. This is our first year buying from the Gituama Estate. It jumped out on the cupping table with its bright, citrusy acidity, juicy body, and dark berry-like sweetness.
